Function
Used in cosmetics as a beeswax substitute. Paraffin is a solid mixture of hydrocarbons obtained from petroleum, although it can be also be obtained from wood or coal. Pure paraffin is harmless to the skin, but the presence of impurities may result in irritation, eczemas, and other skin problems.
