Function

Classified as a pyrone derivative and is used mostly as a fungicide and bactericide. Industrially, it is also used as a plasticizer in synthetic resins. It is used to reduce pickle bloating as a preservative for squash and strawberries. Also used in antienzyme toothpastes.
