Function
Dextrose is glucose sugar refined from corn starch. Dextrose is a sweetener and a readily available source of energy. Dextrose is produced by the enzyme conversion of corn starch and then refined by ion-exchange demineralization. Dextrose is commonly used as a sweetener, a source of rapidly absorbed energy and a carrier in water soluble medications. Dextrose is approximately 70% as sweet as sucrose.
