Appearance
Clear colorless liquid after melting with slight ammonia-like odor White solids at room temperature
Function
Used as an emulsifying agent. Is an intermediate used in the production of dyes, lubrification oils, corrosion inhibitor, detergents and cutting fluids. It can neutralize pH, act as a buffer (stabilize pH), or add basicity (alkalinity) to a solution. Because diisopropanolamine is a good solubilizer of oil and fat, it is
frequently used to neutralize fatty acids and sulfonic acidbased surfactants.
