Appearance
Colorless liquid with characteristic odor
Description
Dipropylene Glycol meets the requirements for personal care manufacturers in Europe. It is also used as a reactive intermediate in the manufacture of high performance unsaturated polyester resins, polyurethanes, and plasticizers. While DPG is similar to the other glycols, its greater solvency and higher viscosity also make it the best choice for hydraulic brake-fluid formulations, cutting oils, textile lubricants, and industrial soaps.
Function
Dipropylene glycol finds many uses as a plasticizer, an intermediate in industrial chemical reactions, as a polymerization initiator or monomer, and as a solvent. Its low toxicity and solvent properties make it an ideal additive for perfumes and skin and hair care products. It is also a common ingredient in commercial fog fluid, used in entertainment industry fog machines.
