Function

Is an anionic surfactant, usually a mixture of sodium alkyl sulfates, mainly the lauryl; lowers surface tension of aqueous solutions. It is used as a fat emulsifier, wetting agent, detergent in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and toothpastes.
